






The welcoming ceremony for the 30th batch of first-year nursing and midwifery students enrolled in the three-year Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery program at the Nursing and Midwifery Training School (Magway) was held on Tuesday at Myat Pyin Nyar Hall of the training school. The event was attended by Magway Region Chief Minister U Tint Lwin, Region Government Ministers, departmental officials from the region, district, and township levels, as well as teachers and trainees from the training school.
The ceremony began with a performance of the song "Karuna Alinn or Light of Compassion” by the trainees. In his opening remarks, Chief Minister U Tint Lwin stated that the Nursing and Midwifery Training School in Magway was established on July 1, 1994, and has been offering the three-year Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery program ever since. He noted that the school has now reached its 30th batch of trainees. He also mentioned that, in line with the state's goal of developing human resources for health, the school will continue to train 110 nursing and midwifery students in 2025, equipping them with the skills to provide nursing and midwifery care.
Following this, the Director of the Magway Region Public Health and Medical Services Department delivered a welcoming speech. A trainee representative expressed gratitude on behalf of the 30th batch of nursing and midwifery trainees. The trainees also performed songs as part of the entertainment program. The Chief Minister presented honorariums to the performing groups.
In a related development, Chief Minister U Tint Lwin and party, along with officials from the Magway Region Women's Affairs Committee and the Maternal and Child Welfare Association, visited Basic Education High School No. 1 in Magway to observe the school-based nutrition feeding program for kindergarten students. The program aims to improve the nutritional development of school-aged children, a vital human resource for the nation.
It was reported that the school-based nutrition feeding program will be implemented in 2,409 schools across 22 townships in Magway Region, benefiting 35,159 kindergarten students. The program will be conducted three times in total—twice in January and once in February.
