Meeting with officials from MEC: MoI UM attended and gave a speech

The event to meet with the officials from Myanmar Engineering Council was held at the Myanmar Engineering Council in Lanmadaw Township, Yangon Region on 17th December.

The event was attended by the Patron of Myanmar Engineering Council, Union Minister for Industry Dr. Charlie Than, the President, Vice Presidents, Secretary, Executive Committees, Council members, and officials from the Ministry of Industry.Firstly, the Union Minister mentioned that engineering education in Myanmarhas reached its 100th anniversary, and that the Myanmar Engineering Council has been working in collaboration with technological universities to achieve Engineering Education 4.0.

He emphasized the importance of continuing to develop and expand engineering education. He outlined the evolution of engineering education through the stages of Engineering Education 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, and 4.0. Prior to the industrial revolution, engineering education was informal, focusing on craftsmanship and skills training.

However, it has gradually developed into a structured system, starting with Discipline-Based Education 2.0, then moving to Integration-Based Education 3.0, which incorporates technology integration, innovation, and research.

Today, Engineering Education 4.0 focuses on smart technologies, including artificial intelligence, internet-based systems, and cyber technologies, with practical learning experiences, lifelong learning, and interdisciplinary approaches.

The Union Minister also highlighted that Engineering Education 4.0 is outcome-based. The Ministry of Industry has been regulating the inspection of industries such as electrical, boiler, and chemical materials to ensure compliance with relevant laws. Engineers are expected to adhere to ethical standards and engage in lifelong learning to remain aligned with the latest developments in their fields.Myanmar Engineering Council is urged to take its role to ensuring minimal energy consumption and environmental impact in industrial zones and factories.

The Chairman of the Council then explained the Council’s current activities and efforts to ensure that engineers meet quality standards.
