Magway Region Chief Minister U Tint Lwin attended a ceremony to spray sesame and peanut crop with foliar fertilizer in the 5.45-acre farm in GwayTaukSan Village of Magway Township area.

There, the Chief Minister also gave necessary instructions to concerned officials regarding the agriculture sector before holding talks with growers and farmers. In the talks, he stressed that it is important to have a good yield and the successful seed production requires proper fertilizer use and natural water.

The Chief Minister also called for peanuts plantation instead of sesame plantation in order to improve the yield of oilseed crops. To increase the acreage, it is necessary to grow multiple crops in the current farmland without expanding the land area, and it is necessary to cultivate correctly.

He also highlighted the regional government’s efforts to improve the yield per acre of oil crops, expand the acreage of sunflower crops, reduce foreign oil consumption and support the self-sufficiency in oil consumption in the country. After the talks, the Chief Minister viewed the successful sesame and peanut crop cultivation in the farm.

Also, he inspected the sunflower, cotton and pea plantation in the compound of the Regional Government Yeiktha in Magway Township, heard reports and gave necessary instructions.
