Japan/Sweden defence talks

Japanese Defense Minister Hamada Yasukazu held talks with his Swedish counterpart Pal Jonson at the Defense Ministry in Tokyo on Wednesday evening. The Japanese Defense Minister expressed Japan's support for Sweden's application to NATO amid the increasingly harsh security environment.

Jonson stated that the ongoing conflict underscores the need to reinforce dialogue between Europe, the Atlantic and the Indo-Pacific. The two ministers agreed to maintain close cooperation in realizing a free and open Indo-Pacific and enhance defense cooperation and exchanges between their countries.
