Japan MSDF vessel displaying Rising Sun Flag enters South Korean port for drills.

The destroyer, flying the flag near its stern, arrived in the port city of Busan on Monday. It is expected to display the flag during Wednesday's drills in waters off South Korea's Jeju Island.

The Self-Defense Forces Law stipulates that the Rising Sun Flag is to be displayed on MSDF vessels. The current administration of President Yoon Suk-yeol says it does not perceive flying the flag as problematic, and calls it an international custom.
