






The 2nd day session of 18th Asia Media Summit continued at Grand Hyatt Hotel Ballroom in Denpasar city, Bali of Indonesia on 24th May.
Myanmar delegation led by the Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn attended the event. At the 2nd day session, media experts discussed the topics on Media Enhancing Economic Sustainability, Creating a Sustainable Media Ecosystem, Media Amplifying Global Economic Recovery Efforts, Youth Special Session: Getting Media Active, Talking about A.I - Future of Media and CEO Table Talk -The Next Step Forward.
In the exclusive interview of Indonesian Television Broadcaster TVRI, Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn replied the situation of media in Myanmar, the danger of fake news/ disinformation and cooperation with international organizations.
Later, the Union Minister attended the Ministerial Meeting on issuing Bali Declaration 2023 on regional cooperation for combating fake news, misinformation and disinformation on social media that was the outcome in the Ministerial level roundtable discussion held on Tuesday.
Information ministers attending the summit, heads of TV broadcasters, officials of ASEAN Secretariat and AIBD discussed recommendations for cooperation between regional governments and broadcasters, tips for responsible use of social media, ensuring accountability/responsibility by social media founders and effective cooperation at the regional level.
In the evening, the closing ceremony of 18th Asia Media Summit was held and officials read out the decisions in respective sectors of the summit and the Bali Declaration 2023 was approved as a joint statement of the heads of the information sector who attended the submit without objection.
After the photo session and closing ceremony, the Union Minister presented commemorative gifts to ministers attending the event and heads of AIBD, ASEAN and TVRI and cordially greeted them.
The Bali Declaration 2023 highlights to cooperate seriously on regional cooperation processes such as the responsible use of social media to address the risks and challenges of fake news and disinformation on the social media to work together with the Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD), to encourage and cooperate at the regional level to ensure responsibility and accountability in regard with fake news, misinformation and disinformation by social media founders and stakeholders and to cooperate with each other in order to control the one-sided reporting news that violates media and press freedom in accordance with the relevant laws.
