Stargazers gathered in New Delhi on Friday to watch the year’s first lunar eclipse. A group of stargazers had set up telescopes through which people could watch the penumbral lunar eclipse. The penumbral lunar eclipse began at 3:14 GMT and ends on May 6th at 7:31 GMT.
A penumbral lunar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes through the Earth's partial shadow or penumbra, causing the moon to dim only slightly.Such an eclipse isn't as dramatic as a partial lunar eclipse or a total lunar eclipse when the moon, Earth and sun are perfectly aligned.
