India, China, Russia attend SCO defence meeting

Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh chaired a conference of his counterparts from Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) countries in New Delhi on Friday. Chinese Defence Minister General Li Shangfu and Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu were among those attending the talks.

The SCO also includes Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.Pakistani Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif joined the conference virtually, according to a statement from the Indian Press Information Bureau.

The ministers are expected to discuss regional peace and security and counterterrorism efforts, the statement added.Iranian Defence Minister Mohammad Reza Ashtiani was also in attendance within Iran's role as an SCO observer state.
