ASEAN-China cooperation: Myanmar delegation attended opening ceremony

According to the invitation of Mr. Tang Renhian, Minister for Agricultural and Rural Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, to attend the opening ceremony of ASEAN-China Cooperation in Agriculture and Food Security Year, ASEAN-China Forum on Digital Technology in Agricultural and the 24th Scientifically Cultivated Vegetables Exhibition, the Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Min Naung and Director General of Project Department U Kyaw Swar Linn who have arrived at Bejing of China met with H.E. Mr. Ma Youxiang, Deputy Minister for Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the People’s Republic of China and official concerned and discussed about cooperation works for the agricultural development between the two countries.

At the discussion, the official import of frozen meat, holding agricultural sector work coordination meeting under the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor, seedlings and production of the important crops with the collaborative efforts between the companies from private sectors, disease control activities of animal infectious diseases, providing technologies for livestock breeding sector in Myanmar and support of Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Special Fund were discussed.

Afterwards, Myanmar delegation led by Union Minister attended the opening ceremony of ASEAN-China Cooperation in Agriculture and Food Security Year at Kempinski Hotel Beijing Yansha Center in Bejing of China.

There, H.E. Mr. Ma Youxiang, Vice Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the PRC, agricultural ministers from ASEAN member countries and Deputy General Secretary from ASEAN secretariat delivered the speeches respectively.

In his speech, the union minister said that cooperation works are being made in terms of food security, stable market condition, regional development and building the socio-cultural development.

Myanmar is adopted the prosperity of the country and food security as the national duty and Myanmar can cultivate and produce various crops with good quality of natural land and water.

Agricultural products would export more than the past years in 2022-23 fiscal year for regional and world food security, the trade volume reaches 2 billion USD between the two countries in 2022-23 fiscal years, and expressed special thanks for agricultural assistances received from the agricultural cooperation works, Mekong-Lancang cooperation and more.

After poem recitation by children from ASEAN Member countries and China, guests of honor officially opened the opening ceremony of ASEAN-China Cooperation in Agriculture and Food Security Year and took documentary group photos.
