2023 Shanghai International Half Marathon Held successfully

The 2023 Shanghai International Half Marathon was successfully held on Sunday. It is this year’s 1st large-scale race in Shanghai after China optimized its COVID19 response.Under the landmark Oriental Pearl Tower in Shanghai, 15,000 contestants from all over the world rushed forward.

After 21 kilometers of hard work, Ezra Kipketer Tanui from Kenya was the first to cross the finish line which was set at the SPD Bank Oriental Sports Center. The women's competition was fierce, with Ethiopian runners Alemaddis Eyayu Sisay and Enatnesh Alamrew Tirusew crossing the finish line at almost the same time, breaking Shanghai Half Marathon's previous record.

The organizing committee also set up special awards for Chinese athletes.With the continuous improvement of sports facilities in Shanghai, road running has become one of the most popular sports for citizens.Apart from prize money, the top 200 male finishers and top 100 female finishers have won themselves entry to the 2023 Shanghai Marathon, which is scheduled for the latter half of the year.
