





The 2023 matriculation examination began Wednesday across the nation and students took the exam peacefully at relevant examination centres in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area.
In Nay Pyi Taw, over 7000 students are taking the exam at the 39 exam centers of 8 townships.
AungSweOo, Director, Nay Pyi Taw Education Officer Office, said " A total of 7,118 students are taking the exams at the 39 exam centers. In Nay Pyi Taw, there are only two students who take the exam at the hospital according to the health condition. We have arranged for the students who are sentenced to be able to take the exam peacefully at the No.7 High School. This year is the final matriculation exam of the old format and curriculums. Starting the coming year, students will have to learn Grade-12 system."
The 2023 matriculation examination will be held from 8th to 18th March. Candidates will have to take Myanmar, English and Mathematics exams on 8, 9 and 10 March. Then, they will sit for Chemistry and Physics on 13 and 14 March and Biology and Economics on 15 March. Geography, History and Optional Myanmar exams will be on 16, 17 and 18 March respectively.
Win Khine, Principal, No.6 Basic Education High School, said " We have prepared for the exam a week in advance before holding it. We arranged for the exam rooms, security measures for the students and the duties of those who are assigned. This year is the final chance for the students who have learned the old curriculum."
Kalyar, Parent, Nay Pyi Taw Zabuthiri Township, said " I am waiting for taking exam of my son. I have expectation. This year is the final year of the old curriculum. I want my son to pass the exam. I support all for him enabling to take the exam with peace of mind."
The security personnel, health workers, Fire Brigade members and ward/village administrators systematically provide security measures around school areas for the students to be able to take the exam peacefully. This year, the Ministry of Education opened five foreign exam centres and 858 local exam centres. A total of 179,843 students submitted application forms for 2022-2023 academic year but only 161,851 (about 90 per cent) sat for the exam on the first day, according to the Ministry of Education.
