Farmers Awareness Program: Organic Cultivation System to use in Myiek Tsp

Farmers awareness programs are going to be conducted for farmers in Myiek township of Thanintharyi region to be able to produce safety foods with organic cultivation acquiring GAP certificates. In doing so, farmers are needed to cultivate and produce by using GAP system for consumer’s safety in terms of applying, checking and approving for organic cultivations and using organic system. In implementing organic cultivation sector development, it is also important to develop research and technology, to gain strong and good market, to give recommendations with quality control. The benefits of organic approved certificates are producing safety foods, penetrating market, smooth flow of trade, suitable for e-commerce, giving guarantee for real organics, developing farmers group, more skillful in information and market conditions, improving small scales sectors to agro-economic, getting strong of production chain, cultivation and trade growth, sustainable development of living things and natural environment. In Myeik Township, there are about 42,000 monsoon paddy cultivation acres and about 700 kitchen crops acres that are annually growing and producing. But this year, for consumer safety, organic system is going to be used, it’s learnt.
