




Myanmar is exporting fruits around 70 truckloads to China through the Muse border gate daily. Most of the exported fruits are watermelon, cucumber, pumpkin and raising the demand in China market.
Sai Khin Maung, Vice Chairman, Muse Fruit Center, said " At present, around 70 trucks carrying watermelon, cantaloupe and pumpkin are exported to China every day – they fetch good prices because of the high demand. A ton of watermelon is priced at around 5,500 kyats for a ton, around 7,000kyats for a ton of cantaloupe- prices are based on the quality of fruits. Most of the cantaloupes come from Mandalay and Sagaing regions, and watermelon from Yangon region. Those fruits season will end soon, so export volume has decreased. "
According to an official of the Muse Fruit Center, Myanmar fruits are becoming to have high quality like the fruits from Vietnam and Laosas the cultivation technology has improved in the country.
