





Ministry of Electric Power signed Memorandum of Agreement on wind power projects with the Primus Advanced Technologies Limited, Asia Ecoenergy Development Limited and Yunnan Machinery and Equipment Import and Export Co., Ltd.
In this Agreement signing ceremony on Wednesday at the Ministry, Union Minister U Thaung Han said that it is necessary to manage the country's natural resources with a sense of responsibility to preserve and use them beneficially. Energy security is a priority for all citizens and energy resources are limited.
It will also be necessary to carry out the projects in accordance with the procedures, law and by-law to prevent environmental and social damage. He also called for efforts to complete the 3 projects in 2025 and to generate 50 MW in 2023 December, the first phase of the project in Gwa Township.
Also, Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Mr. Chen Hai said that as it is the first wind power project to be built in Myanmar, it is the beginning of a new step in China-Myanmar electricity sector cooperation.
And, Vice President of the Yunnan Machinery and Equipment Import and Export Co., Ltd. clarified about the conditions regarding the project. It’s reported that the wind power projects under this MOA to be carried out in Ann, Gwa and Thandwe townships of Rakhine State will produce a total of 360 megawatts.
