Onion Market: Onion fetches good price in 2023

The Department of Consumer Affairs is monitoring the daily prices and market situation by regions and states to prevent the rising prices of basic consumer goods included onion market. According to the Department of Consumer Affairs, Myanmar has more than 1.7 million acres of onion cultivation and mostly cultivated in Mandalay, Magway and Sagaing regions.

According to the previous prices, the onion price was around 600 kyats per viss and this year price has reached at 2,500 kyats per viss in the market. At present, those onions from Myittha area price reached at 1,000 kyats per viss and onions from Monywa and Myingyan fetched around 900 kyats per viss. Due to the current prices, the growers received the good prices and it is also reasonable prices for consumers.
