Hailing the 61st Peasants’ Day, a ceremony to present fund and equipment to the Bamboo Crafts Common Interest Groups-CIGs was held at the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation on Friday. At the event, Chairman of the Nay Pyi Taw Council U Tin Oo Lwin said that being an agro-based country, Myanmar is implementing for the development of agriculture sector in various ways. 

It is seen that the project activities are providing Nay Pyi Taw Council Area to become a Green, Clean and Smart City. This project helps in developing the socio-economic life of the villages in the Nay Pyi Taw council area. Through the project that are jointly conducted by the Nay Pyi Taw Council and the relevant Ministries, the villages and private business owners who are undertaking bamboo shoot and bamboo handicraft works are urged to make efforts for establishing villages that can implement successfully one village one product system.

Afterwards, Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr Tin Htut said that the Common Interest Groups- CIGs were formed to operate collectively bamboo and bamboo shoot finished product works. By providing assistance like this, the interest groups formed in the villages will continue to strive for the development of medium enterprises based on the small-scale bamboo handicraft businesses. Later, the Director General of the Planning Department reported on the aim of the project and salient point of the project.

The Planning Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation is implementing "A project to improve the social income of rural households based on the development of the value chain of bamboo shoot production".  In the ceremony, the Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman and the Deputy Ministers presented funds and a Vacuum Packing Machine to the CIGs.
