Agriculture Sector: 79.88 acres of farm lands developed at model village

Irrigation and Water Utilization Management Department under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation is implementing 79.88 acres of farm lands to development systematically in Gway Pin (model Village), Tat Kone Township to distribute water for cultivation of seasonal crops without wastage of water.  

The project is being implemented in the irrigated areas of Hsin Thay Dam, to improve utilization of modern farming equipments, to follow exactly the modern farming techniques, to smooth flowing of irrigation water, to reduce weaknesses during harvesting season.     

Staff Officer, Myint Zaw, Irrigation & Water Utilization Management Dept. said "In implementing model village project, plans are underway to develop systematic farm lands under the instruction of the Department of Agriculture Land Management and Statistics (Tat Kone) according to the reports of local farmers. Then, the officials measure the farm lands and make designs. Water Utilization Groups are formed according to the canals. "

This project is jointly implemented by the Irrigation and Water Utilization Management Department, Agricultural Mechanization Department, Department of Agriculture Land Management and Statistics and Rural Development Department. Likewise, during the project period, altogether 10,240 feet long farm road, 11,360 feet long water distribution canal, 16,085 feet long drainage and 210 of canal building could be constructed.

Farmer, Maung Maung, Gway Pin Village said "Previously, there is no systematic management of water so, it can affect yielding of the crop. At present, the yield has increased in double, that’s why we would like to say thanks to the related departmental officials."

By developing systematic farm land, it can swift to the modern farming, can produce farming products more, food sufficiency in local, also can be able to export to abroad and can facilitate poverty alleviation.
