Illegal trade: Timbers, consumer goods, vehicles confiscated

An effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law supervised by the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee.

On 21st February, a total of 8 safes made in Thailand and a Daihatsu Hijet vehicle loaded them were confiscated in Kengturn Township of Shan State, two Honda Fit vehicles without license were captured in Bahan Township of Yangon, 4.46 tonnes of Teakwood timbers were seized in Yay Ni forest reserve in Lewe Township of Nay Pyi Taw Council area.

On 22nd February, 10 units of Lenovo Walkie-Talkie from the passenger languages at Yangon International Airport, 8,000 Kilograms of ABC Sweet Soy Sauce manufactured in Indonesia were seized at Asia World Container Checkpoint, 700 Kilograms of Kerry Biofine P19 manufactured in Ireland were confiscated at Yangon International Airport, 14.062 tonnes of ironwood timbers were seized at Phyu Chaung forest reserve in Phyu Township of Bago Region.

On February 23rd,  85 units of cooking red pan made in Thailand were seized from a motor vehicle heading to Yangon from Myawady.

Therefore, 11 arrests (estimated value of 158.998 Million Kyats) were made on 21, 22 and 23 February, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee.
