(SEA-PLM) 2019 country report: MoE Union Minister addressed the event

The event of submitting country report of Myanmar on Southeast Asia Primary Learning Metrics (SEA-PLM) 2019 and introducing SEA-PLM 2024 the new round of assessment SEA-PLM 2024 was held at the meeting hall of the Ministry of Education, Nay Pyi Taw in the morning on 23rd February.

First, the Union Minister for Education Dr. Nyunt Pe said that SEA-PLM is an experimental exercise in large-scale comparative assessment at the primary education level (Grade-5 in Myanmar) in three learning domains: reading, writing and mathematics. The six ASEAN countries namely Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines and Viet Nam participated in the main survey of SEA-PLM.

By fulfilling the educational assessment reflected the learning capacity in ASEAN region and included 21st century competencies, the good and accurate results will come out. Through it, the equal education will be entitled by the children in the region. Next, the deputy director general U Aung Htaik of the Department of Myanmar Examinations clarified the status to be conducted SEA-PLM 2019. Then, the director Dr. Aye Thida Soe of the Department of Education Research, Planning and Training clarified the reference framework for SEA-PLM 2019.

Next, the officials from the Department of Education Research, Planning and Training submitted country report of SEA-PLM 2019. After expressing words of thanks by the director general Dr. Than Than Myint of the Department of Education Research, Planning and Training, the event was concluded, it’s learnt.
