Research Paper Reading Session: Sustainability of forestry, mineral and environment

34th Research Paper Reading Session for forestry, mineral and environmental issues commenced on Thursday. Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Khin Maung Yi attended the opening ceremony, held at YayZin Forest Research Department.

In his opening speech, the Union Minister stressed the importance of applied research in order to tackle the obstacles and challenges in implementing the systematic management for sustainability of forest resources and economic development of the nation by exploiting the forest resources in line with the stipulations for environmental impact assessment.

He urged all to conduct research works for new approaches in tackling the forestry and environmental issues including the nature-based approach. He also pointed out the need to continue research works for implementing the responsible mining industry that could ensure for sustainability of mining industry.

The Union Minister later viewed the display of research posters on forestry, mineral and environmental issues. The research paper reading session was held with the aims to make discussion among the concerned persons on the research findings on forestry, mineral and environmental fields, to disseminate the knowledge of research findings, to exchange views and to suggest for future research works.
