Martial Law Order No.9/2023: SAC issued Martial Law Order No. 9/2023

State Administration Council of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar issued Martial Law No.9/2023 on Wednesday. With the State Administration Council’s Martial Law order No.8/2023 dated 22nd February 2023, the SAC has transferred the executive and judiciary power to the northwest command commander to exercise the Martial Law in Shwe Bo, WetLet and Ayadaw Townships in accordance with Article 419 of the State Constitution to enforce security, the rule of law and peace.

Local administration bodies in the areas which have been placed under Martial Law shall carry out their respective tasks under the command of the Commander of North-West Command. The Commander of North-West Command shall designate the military region and can appoint military region commanders under the martial law orders, with the approval of the State Administration Council Chairman.

The Commander of North-West Command shall accomplish the Administration and Judiciary tasks including security, social, trade and transport as well as formation of courts, deciding cases at military tribunal, punishment, approval, appealing and applying for reversal of decisions, by himself, or military region commanders or an appropriate person or a body he transferred the power.

The Chairman of the State Administration Council or the Commander of North-West Command not only can exercise the rights mentioned before but also can increase the punishment. The Commander of North-West Command can form an advisory body for martial law to get assistance for performing his duties.

The Commander of North-West Command shall report to the Chairman of the State Administration Council on the situation of the martial law areas. By Order, signed by Secretary of the State Administration Council Lt-Gen Aung Linn Dway.
