Illegal trade: Lead, foodstuffs, consumer goods, vehicles confiscated

An effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law supervised by the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee.

On 19 February, officials of a combined team captured 3080 visses of lead without official documents that were hidden on a vehicle heading to Myeik from Dawei on the health road in Dawei Township.

On 20 February, the on-duty inspection teams seized four kinds of goods including 440 kilogrammes of gas spring that were not mentioned in the Import Declaration (ID) and 1450 kilogrammes of barium sulfate without an import licence and necessary documents from two containers at the Myanmar Industrial Port container checkpoint, furniture that exceeded the Import Declaration (ID) from a container at the Asia World Port Terminal container checkpoint and six walkie-talkie units and 20 old mobile phones without official documents at the Yangon International Airport.

In addition, officials at the Thanlwin Bridge (Hpa-an) combined checkpoint confiscated foodstuffs, seven Honda Wave Alpha motorbikes, two Honda PCX 160 motorbikes and three Honda Click 160 motorbikes without official documents from a Golden Dragon bus.

The patrol of the on-duty combined team at the Yepu permanent checkpoint nabbed foodstuffs and consumer goods from a vehicle stopped near the bypass in Hseni Township.

Therefore, 13 arrests (estimated value of 351.725 million Kyats) were made on 19 and 20 February, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee.
