Illegal trade: Foodstuffs, industrial materials and vehicles seized

An effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law supervised by the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee.

On 16 February, an on-duty Customs team captured eight kinds of goods including 2,250 kilogrammes of raw materials for sanitary napkins and one unit of 1 loop addressable fire alarm panel that were more than 60 days of valid for prior arrival (VPA) at the Yangon International Airport (Import) and four kinds of goods including 2,764.8 kilogrammes of milk powder (Gaullac) that exceeded the Import Declaration (ID) from a container at the Myanmar Industrial Port Terminal container checkpoint.

In addition, officials seized 435.84 kilogrammes of Molyland grease that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) from an Isuzu-Giga car at the Mayanchaung permanent checkpoint in Mon State and 330 cartons of two-elephant beer (China-made) were found ownerless on the bypass road near Sanlong village at the Yepu permanent checkpoint in Shan State.

Therefore, five arrests (estimated value of 265.614 million Kyats) were made on 16 February, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee.
