Sports Competitions: Inter-University and College Sports Competitions commenced

The Inter-University and College Football Tournament of the Higher Education Department and the Inter-College Sports Competition of the Teacher Training Department commenced at Wunna Theikdhi Stadium (B) in Nay Pyi Taw on Saturday.

The opening ceremony was attended by the members of the State Administration Council, the Union Ministers, Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman, the Deputy Ministers and officials, athletes and students.

Union Minister for Education Dr Nyunt Pe gave an opening speech, saying that the competitions aim to turn out the selected Myanmar players who can compete in the Southeast Asia level sports competitions.

He urged all to strive for achieving success by competing in a friendly manner. After formal opening of the ceremony, the commemorative flags for the competitions have been hoisted atop while the athletes recited the Sports Oaths.

The SAC members and the Union Ministers greeted the athletes and left the sports grounds. Altogether 200 athletes, managers and instructors are taking part in the central level competitions, after competing in the Lower and Upper Myanmar Zones.

In the opening Men’s Volleyball Match, Taunggyi Education Degree College won Pyay Education Degree College with 3-0.
