









Union Minister for Electric Power U Thaung Han together with officials inspected on Wednesday Hwe Htike small-scale hydropower project that is being undertaken by the Ministry of Electric Power about 2-mile south-west of Lahe under the guidance of the SAC Chairman to get sufficient electricity in Lahe of Naga self-Administered Region, Sagaing Region.
The Union Minister and party firstly arrived at the concrete diversion weir that is chosen by the Project Formulation and officials reported survey on the small scale hydropower project, salient points of the project, project design and the plans to be implemented.
In response to the report, the Union Minister gave instructions on carrying machinery to the project site, storing cement, diesel and iron rods, construction of project approach road, preparations for construction of project based camp and hydropower facilities with minimizing project costs.
They then looked into the site for construction of the main dam, water storage tank and the site for the construction of electric power plant. Hwe Htike small-scale hydropower project can produce about 21 million kilowatt hours of electricity annually with 4-megawatt generator.
The Union Minister and party then inspected KyaLwe small scale hydropower plant and called for long-term durability of the power plant and maintenance tasks for continuing electricity supply and observed power generation, water channel, water storage tank and diversion weir. KyaLwe small scale hydropower plant is distributing electricity to hospital, religious buildings, departmental offices and wards in Lahe.
The Union Minister and party then paid homage to the abbot of Theravada Buddhist Missionary (Central) School in Lahe and donated offertories. They then looked into construction tasks in the Missionary school. They then proceeded to Theravada Buddhist Missionary Nunnery and donated offertories.
On Thursday, the Union Minister and party inspected Hwe Htike small scale hydropower project near Hsin Thae ward and the site chosen for the base camp to be used in implementing small scale hydropower project near Khamti.
The Union Minister then met Sagaing Region Chief Minister U Myat Kyaw at the Monywa Airport and discussed the site for the base camp and saving cost for transporting construction materials.
