Religious Ceremony: Part 4 of Maravijaya Buddha Image conveyed onto throne

Part 4 of the Maravijaya Buddha Image was successfully conveyed onto the jewelled throne at 2:43 am on Monday in the Maravijaya Buddha Image Park in Dekkhinathiri Township of Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory.

Part 4 of the Buddha Image weighs 500 tonnes, parts 1, 2 and 3 weigh 1,700 tonnes and the jewelled throne is 18 feet high, 72 feet long and 54 feet wide. Maravijaya Buddha image is being built for public obeisance with the aim of showing the flourishment of Theravada Buddhism in Myanmar to the world, ensuring peace and prosperity of the nation, developing the region with travels of local and foreign visitors to the Buddha image and contributing to the development of the nation.

Conveyance of the image onto the jewelled throne started on the 26th of January. Religious objects and precious jewellery items donated by well-wishers across the nation led by the Senior General were kept in the reliquaries at the centrepieces on the jewelled throne on 27 January and 10 February.
