Agriculture Sector: Knowledge Center established in Salin Township

A knowledge center was constructed in Salin Township of Magway Region by the Department of Agriculture with the support of the Korea International Cooperation Agency. The center is under the Agricultural Awareness enhancement project for the development of agriculture sector in Myanmar.

At the center, knowledge sharing sessions, discussions with farmers and training courses and events related to agriculture can be conducted.

Khin Mar Kyi, Deputy Head, Department of Agriculture, Salin Tsp. said "This Knowledge center was built to open a Farmer Field School with 38 million kyats of the Union Fund. There are now 7 knowledge centers in Salin Township. I would like to urge farmers to follow the instructions of the respective knowledge center to improve their farming businesses by producing quality products."

The Knowledge Center is 54 feet long, 36 feet wide and 12 feet high. In Salin Township, rice, chickpea, sesame, green gram and sunflower are mostly planted and onion, peanut and some other vegetables are also grown in the township.
