






The Chairman of Rakhine State Stability, Peace and Development Work Coordination Committee Union Minister for Border Affairs Lt. Gen. Tun Tun Naung, Vice Chair-1 Union Minister for International Cooperation U Ko Ko Hlaing, Vice Chair-2 Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Thet Thet Khaing, Union Minister for Immigration and Population U Myint Kyaing arrived at Sittwe by flight in the morning on February 5 to conduct the ground inspection for the matters on ICJ, preparations for the repatriation and resettlement of displaced persons from Rakhine State, closure of temporary camps and the development of Rakhine State.
Next, the union ministers and state chief minister observed the status of implementing Kaladan Multipurpose Transportation Project at the project office in Sittwe and the project in-charge head officer of Myanma Port Authority in Rakhine State U Nay Oo clarified the status of completing the dredging at Sittwe port, implementation of project works, the status of arrangements for cargo transportation with waterway from Sittwe to Palatwa, with road transportation from Palatwa to Mizoram of India, completion of constructing Palatwa jetty and the prospects of development in bilateral trade after completion of project and the union minister queried on what they wanted to know and viewed the project area and wharf.
In the afternoon, the vice chair of the Steering Committee on Lawsuit at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) Union Minister for International Cooperation U Ko Ko Hlaing and Union Ministers and Rakhine State Chief Minister held coordination meeting regarding the issues on ICJ and reviewed and coordinated discussion on the status of implementation and arrangements to submit Counter Memorial at the Rakhine State Government Office.
In the morning on February 6, the union ministers and chief minister attended and opened the MSME products expo held in hailing the 76th Union Day, observed the shop stalls of local products, cordially inquired on the requirements with the entrepreneurs and provided cash of honor to the students from Sittwe University who performed with Rakhine traditional dances at the opening ceremony.
Next, the union ministers and chief minister encouraged the vaccination for the students between 5 to 12 years age and booster shooting for the people who are over 12, provided stationeries, supplementary nutrients and foodstuff, greeted the health personnel, teachers, students’ parents and provided necessaries.
Then, the union ministers and chief minister encouraged the national races and Bangali trainees who are attending the basic and advance sewing training and provided cash assistance for them at the school of home science in Sittwe opened by the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement.
In the afternoon, the Union Ministers and Chief Minister held the meeting of reviewing the issues on ICJ at the state government office, conducted detail coordinated discussion and the instructed the responsible officials regarding the plans to be carried out, it’s learnt.
