Education Colleges’ Sport Competition : 25 teams participate in the Zone (1) & (2) Competitions

The opening ceremony of Education Degree Colleges’ Sport Competition 2023 Yangon Zone (2) was held at Thuwanna National Indoor Stadium (1) on Tuesday.

The competition is divided into Mandalay Zone (1) and Yangon Zone (2), and 25 Education Degree Colleges from upper and lower Myanmar under the Department of Teacher Education of the Ministry of Education are participating in the events which have been held from 28th January to 9th February.

In Yangon Zone (2), sports teams from Hpa-An, Dawei, Taungoo, Pyay, Mawlamyine, Kyauk Phyu, YanKin, Hlegu, Thingangyun, Hakha, Pathein, Bogalay and Myaungmya Education Degree Colleges are participating in the competition.

Secretary, Sport Competition, YGN Zone (2), Aung Myat Soe, said " Today’s ceremony is the opening ceremony of Education Degree Colleges’ Sport Competition 2023 Yangon Zone (2) with the performances of the trainees from YanKin, Hlegu and Thingangyun. In this sport competition, 13 Education Degree Colleges from upper Myanmar and 12 Education Degree Colleges from lower Myanmar are participated."

Men football Tournaments arebeing taken place at the Paday Thar (South Okkalapa) and South Dagon Stadiums in Yangon.  

Principal, Education Degree College (Thingangyun), Nyein Thi Aung, said " YanKin, Hlegu and Thingangyun Education Degree Colleges are taking responsibilities for organizing the sports events in Zone (2). We also have to make arrangements for competition and awarding to the winning teams as well. Our college will participate in all sport events of the competition."

The Awarding and Closing Ceremony for Men Football Tournament will be held on the 9th of February, while Sepak Takraw [men/women] on the 6th and Volleyball [men/women] on the 7th respectively.

The winners from respective colleges will compete in the Central Level for Education Degree Colleges’ Sport Competition at Wunna Theikdi Stadium in Nay Pyi Taw.
