







A ceremony to convey Mara Vijaya Buddha Image on to the Jewellery Throne was held in the compound of the Buddha Park in Dekkhina Thiri Township of Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory on Thursday.
The ceremony was graced by the Sayadaws and Members of the Sangha led by Chairman of State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Bamaw Monastery Sayadaw of Mandalay Dr. Bhadanda Kumara Bhivamsa and Chancellor of Sitagu International Buddhist Academy Chairman of Shwe Kyin Nikaya Sitagu Sayadaw Dr Bhadanda Nyanissara , along with the attendance of Chairman of the State Administative Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife, Vice Chairman of the Council Deputy Prime Minister Lt-Gen Soe Win and wife, the Secretary, Joint Secretary and members of the council and their wives, the Union Ministers, Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman, senior military officers from the Commander-in-Chief Office and their wives, the Commander of Nay Pyi Taw Command and invited guests.
After opening of the ceremony by performing the religious rituals, the congregation listended to the Parittas, recited by the Sayadaws, followed by the recitation of religious Gadas by the laypersons. Led by the Sayadaws, the Prime Minister and party took position at the designated places near the Jewellery Throne, and sprinkled scented water to the steel scaffold, steel ornamented basket and steel tower crane.
At the auspicious time, the Prime Minister pressed the button to commence the conveyance of Mara Vijaya Buddha Image on to the Jewellery Throne. The conveyance of Buddha Image continued according to the process while reciting of religious Gadas by the members of the Sangha.
The Jewellery Throne is 18 ft in height, 72 ft in length and 54 ft in width. The total weight of the Buddha Image is 1,700 tons, and it will take about 72 hours to convey the Buddha Image on to the throne with the use of the steel tower crane. After sharing the merits gained, the ceremony concluded sucessfully.
The Prime Minister and party later took guidance from the Sayadaws and members of the Sanghas concerning the construction of Mara Vijaya Buddha Image, religious edifices and inscription of Pitaka Scriptures into Pala and Romanize Language. They then viewed round the progress of construction works in the Buddha Park. A ceremony to enshrine the religious repository at the pillar of Jewellery Throne will be taken place at 8:00 am on the 27th January.
