





With the World Cup just days away, the small nation of Qatar is turning to innovative solutions to accommodate hundreds of thousands of football fans. It is estimated that around 1.2 million fans will enter the country during the month-long games.In the lead-up to the tournament, concerns about hotel room space and high prices for the rooms available have trailed Qatar, which lacks hotel capacity for all teams, workers, volunteers and fans.One option is accommodation in the desert.
ZemriDauti, Resident camp manager said "Of course, it is our dream come true. And we are very excited to have the fans here in Qatar, especially here, where we are in the desert, to experience the nature, to see the richness in the cultural sites and the protected areas, which Sealine is one of them, for them to experience the nature of Qatar, but also at the same time to see the development that the country has been going through all these, all these years." "This has come not overnight. There's been a lot of efforts to... to make the country developed and prosper. Nothing can be perfect. But for sure they have tried their best to do what they can with the resources they have to create such a beautiful country and really very wealthy and nice people. Hospitality is here."
The site has around 15 tents and 32 glass rooms, which go for about $350 a night.Ecologically-friendly facilities have also been a focus of the tournament.Peter van de Bunt, the hotel's co-founder and Managing Director, says it lets water used by guests be repurposed for irrigation.
