China's top economic planner said on Monday the country will not scale back its opening-up despite previous indications that the government would focus on self-sustained growth by relying on domestic consumer spending. Zhao Chenxin, an official of National Development and Reform Commission, said that some people, from home and abroad, thought that by focusing on domestic economy, China will scale back on its opening-up.
They even said that they want to have a self-sufficient economy. That is, however, the wrong way to look at it at the press conference at the congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) that is taking place this week. Zhao said although the economy faces challenges, it showed a significant recovery in the third quarter and the job market is generally stable.
