Hong Kong Starts to Select Payload Specialists for First Time

The Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions began the application process for payload experts for national space programs this week. Officials and experts are calling on local talents to seize the chance to propel the regions' science and technology development to a higher level.

The selection process for payload specialists in the Hong Kong SAR begins on October 6 and continues through Oct 27. The selection is being held in 11 universities and related research institutions or enterprises in Hong Kong. Payload specialists is one of the categories of astronauts according to their tasks. It refers to the scientific researchers who carry out scientific and applied research and other experimental work in the space station.
