Honouring the Athletes: Cash prizes awarded to the winners of 11th ASEAN Para Games

Myanmar athletes who won prizes in the 11th ASEAN Para Games, held in Indonesia, were honoured at a ceremony at Wunna Theikdhi Stadium (B) in Nay Pyi Taw on Saturday.

Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing gave a speech, saying that along with the changing situation, the sports standards has been promoted, and it became a national duty that could promote the prestige of the nation and its people.

Achieving the winning medals in the sports competitions could help promote the prestige of the nation, as the country’s flag is hoisting atop with the spreading sound of the national anthem in the international community.

It is worth to honour the victorious athletes, recognizing their efforts, perseverance and spirit. As a recognition to their hard works, 200,000 kyats and 200 US dollars each were provided to the athletes before the competition while 100 US dollars to the instructors.

Moreover, 1,000 US dollar were provided to the gold medal winners, 700 dollars to silver medal winners and 500 dollars to the bronze medal winners. For the team events, the silver medal winning team members were awarded 500 US dollars each and 300 US dollars each to the bronze medal winning team members. 

The Prime Minister urged the athletes to continue their hard works for winning achieving in the 12th ASEAN Para Games that will be taken place in Cambodia from 3rd to 9th June in 2023.

During the ceremony, 30 million kyats cash prizes were awarded to the individual winners of gold medal, 20 million kyats to silver medals and 10 million kyats to bronze medals.

For the team event, each member was awarded 10 million kyats for gold medal, 7 million kyats for silver and 3.5 million kyats for bronze medal. Moreover, the judges were awarded with 10 million kyats for gold medal, 5 million kyats for silver medal and 3 million kyats for bronze medal.

The team managers were also awarded with 10 million kyats for gold medal, 5 million kyats for silver and 3 million kyats for bronze medal. A total of 1.006 billion kyats were awarded for the victorious Myanmar Para Sports Team.

A total of 113 members of Myanmar sports team including 69 athletes, 40 managers and instructors and 4 judges took part in the 11th ASEAN Para Games. Myanmar athletes participated in 7 sports events, and won a total of 43 medals, 14 gold, 12 silver and 17 bronze medals. Among the 11 participating countries, Myanmar ranked No.6.
