U.S. health officials say more than 100,000 monkeypox vaccine doses are being sent to states this week, and several million more are on order in the months ahead.

But the vaccine supply still isn't keeping up with the demand seen in places like New York and California. A protest was held outside the federal building in San Francisco Monday demanding that the government send more monkeypox vaccines to the city. San Francisco's walk-up monkeypox vaccine clinic had to be shut down last week when it ran out of doses. So far the city has about 70 confirmed cases. Officials predicted cases will keep rising for at least a few more weeks as the government tries to keep up with a surprising international outbreak accounting for hundreds of newly reported cases every day.
