




The Westphalian Peace Prize was awarded to NATO and the youth organisation socioMovens in Münster of Germany on Thursday. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz delivered the laudatory speech for NATO, saying the alliance had been a pillar of the Euro-Atlantic peace order for three generations.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte accepted the prize on behalf of the alliance’s soldiers and staff. The youth prize went to socioMovens, which organises projects in Central and Eastern Europe. Cardinal Michael Czerny delivered the laudatory speech. The prize has been awarded every two years since 1998 and always has two recipients. The prize money totals 100,000 euros and is split between them.
