The NATO summit in Madrid was entering its final day on Thursday. The two-day meeting has already seen an agreement between Turkey, Sweden and Finland opening the way for the two Nordic countries to join the military alliance.

US President Joe Biden also announced that the US would enhance its military presence in Europe for the long haul to bolster regional security after Russia's military operation. Biden said the US will establish a permanent headquarters in Poland and send two additional F-35 fighter jet squadrons to the United Kingdom. The US is also sending more air defense and other capabilities to Germany and Italy.
