Regional Meeting: Myanmar Delegation Attends 23rd Meeting of SCI in Ha Noi

23rd meeting of the ASEAN-COCI Sub-Committee on Information (23rd SCI) kicked off in Viet Nam on Thursday.

Myanmar delegation led by Director General of Myanma Radio and Television (MRTV) U Ye Naing attended the meeting in Ha Noi, while the concerned officials from Nay Pyi Taw Tatkone and Yangon joined the meeting via online.

The meeting discussed the budget planning for the ASEAN Cultural fund for the future work plans, budget policies for implementing the projects related to the information sector, project proposals by the interested member states and selecting and approving the next chairmanship for SCI meeting. Myanmar delegation discussed the completion of the National Level competition for the 10th ASEAN Quiz by the member states which is being undertaking by MRTV as the Project Proponent.

The delegation also explained the preparation measures including the Game Plan for the regional level competition to be held in Myanmar. Moreover, the update information on the ASEAN News Exchange Initiatives Project, RISE ASEAN Project and the ASEAN Creative Film Response on COVID-19 Project were clarified by the SCI member delegations.

The meeting later discussed the concept note for the Sustainable ASEAN MSMEs Project to be undertaken by MITV as the second SCI-Myanmar project. The meeting of the ASEAN-COCI Sub-Committee on Information has been organized for strengthening mutual understanding and trust among the member states through the regional information projects and implementation of ASEAN projects.

The ASEAN member states take alternate chairmanship annually, and the meetings in 2020 and 2021 have been held via online due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The delegation members attend the 23rd SCI meeting in person, and the meeting will continue on 1st July.
