Brazil Amazon natives demand justice for killings

Indigenous activists gathered in many cities of Brazil on Thursday to demand justice for the killing of the British journalist Dom Phillips and Indigenous expert Bruno Pereira.

Phillips and Pereira were last seen June 5 on their boat on the Itaquai River, near the entrance of the Javari Valley Indigenous Territory, which borders Peru and Colombia.

Their remains were found almost two weeks after they went missing. An autopsy showed that Phillips was shot in the chest and Pereira was shot in the head and the abdomen.

Pereira's funeral happens on Friday in his hometown of Recife, Pernambuco state and Phillips' funeral will be on Sunday in Niteroi, Rio de Janeiro state.
