




A fire that broke out on early Thursday morning in an apartment building in Buenos Aires claimed the lives of five members of the same family and sent 30 residents to different hospitals due to carbon monoxide inhalation.
Three children and two women were those who lost their lives. The five deceased persons died while being taken to hospital. The fire broke out in the early hours of the morning on the seventh floor of a 14-storey building.
The first flames broke out in the interior of the apartment quickly spreading to the kitchen, the bedrooms and a bathroom before reached the living room upstairs.
The residents from other floors were hospitalized for inhalation of carbon monoxide and remain under observation. Firefighters managed to extinguish the fire, the cause of which is being investigated.
Authorities have also preventively cut off the gas supply to the entire the block where the building is located.
