




With the instruction of the Department of Archaeology and National Museum under the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture, the Pyu Era historical seminar is opened at the National Museum in Yangon, on Monday.
At the seminar, Union Minister for Religious Affair and Culture U Ko Ko delivered a greeting speech. And then, the historians from Myanmar History Association read the draft proposal on the history of Pyu era. The Department of Archaeology and National Museum reported the update information of historical and archaeological surveys.
Dr. Kyaw Oo Lwin, DG, Dept. of Archaeology & National Museum said "We held this seminar with the aim to identify the history of Myanmar in successive eras. Our department is conducting many surveys and researches on Myanmar history. Myanmar historians from Myanmar History Association have compiled a draft on Myanmar history and also, we have plans to publish historical books based on the reviews of the researches and findings which were discovered by international and local experts within 50 years. If the younger generations study these historical books, they will get knowledge about the history of their motherland."
Pyu Ancient Cities was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2014 and also the seminars and discussions were made about the researches on excavation of Hanlin, Beikthano and Sri Ksetra of Pyu Ancient cities.
Thein Hlaing, Member, Myanmar History Association said "History is important for a country and so, every citizen need to know about the history of Myanmar. Dedicating to review a complete Myanmar historical story, Myanmar History Association has been established since 1954. If I am assigned by the department for paper reading, seminars and meetings, I will participate more in the activities."
The seminar will last 3 days until 22nd June, aiming for public to gain knowledge about the history. Plans are underway to conduct educational films and series on history in cooperation with the Ministry of Information.
