Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said he "strongly condemns" the latest ballistic missiles launches from North Korea.

According to South Korea's military, North Korea test-fired a salvo of eight short-range ballistic missiles from multiple locations toward the sea on Sunday.

Kishida said the North was threatening "peace and stability" in the region and the firing of the missiles also violated the United Nations' Security Council resolutions.

Japan will continue to work closely with the United States and South Korea to collect information and monitor alerts, and make every possible effort to ensure the peace and security of Japan.
