HK chief opens pier between HK and China

Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam on Friday opened a new pier in a town in a curious corner of Hong Kong. Sha Tau Kok is a small town, where the border between Hong Kong and mainland China.

It's usually out of bounds to all Hong Kong residents, apart from the people who live there. Authorities in Beijing and Hong Kong say they are planning to develop Hong Kong's rural "New Territories districts", to try to make Hong Kong part of a "Greater Bay Area" together with mainland China's Guangdong Province.
