Kuala Lumpur zoo celebrates panda's first birthday

Sheng Yi, the panda, dug into a cake made of shaved ice on Tuesday, as zoo officials in Kuala Lumpur celebrated her first birthday.

The sweet treat was decorated with fruits and a 'number one' icicle on top. The National Zoo of Malaysia named the female panda Sheng Yi, which means peace and friendship.

Locally bred in Malaysia, Sheng Yi is the third cub of giant panda couple Xing Xing and Liang Liang from China. According to zoo official, Rosly Ahmat Lana, Sheng Yi was just recently named, and is a symbol of Malaysia's diplomatic ties with China.
