The Kyin San Kyawt Gate was closed during the third wave of COVID-19 in July, and was reopened for trading in December with the restriction on the cargo trucks crossing at the Myanmar- Chinese border.
Vice-President, Muse Rice Wholesale Centre, Min Thein said “The Kyin-San-Kyawt gate was closed in July due to the third wave of COVID-19 and was reopened in early December last year. In that time, China side only allowed to enter and exit Chinese cargo trucks driven by their national drivers. So, freight costs were very high and it also led to cause the high price of commodity goods. Now, China allows to enter the cargo trucks from our side with replacement driver system starting 16th May. The drivers of Myanmar trucks had to stay in Kyin-San-Kyawt gate and the trucks will be driven into China by the Chinese drivers.”
Kyin San Kyawt is one of the major border trading camps along Myanmar-China border.
