Many dead in commercial building fire in New Delhi

At least 27 people were killed and several others injured when a fire engulfed a four-storey commercial building in the Indian capital on Friday evening. The Press Trust of India news agency said 12 people suffered burns in the fire and 50 were evacuated from the building.

Twenty-seven fire engines were deployed and the flames were brought under control after more than five hours. Fires are common in India, where building laws and safety norms are often flouted by builders and residents.
