After being delayed by COVID for over two years, a parade to honor Japanese heritage will take place in New York City in May. The parade, the first-ever held in the city, will celebrate Japan's long history of cultural, political and technological ties to the United States.

The parade was initially schedule for 2020 to mark the anniversary of the Japanese mission being sent to the United States. This year will mark the 150th anniversary of the introduction of baseball to Japan. The parade will start at 81st street and run along Central Park West ending at 68th street on Manhattans Upper West Side. "This parade is meant to bring people together," Ambassador Mori said. The Japan Parade kicks off on May 14th at 1pm. A Street fair will be held near the end of the parade route.
