Mineral Resources: Taninthayi Region is the largest producer of tin and tungsten

More than 161 tons of minerals were extracted from tin-tungsten mining plots during 4 months from October 2021 to the end of January 2022.  Of them, Taninthayi Region is the largest producer with over 152 tons, according to the General Manager of No.2 Mining Enterprise.

In Myanmar, No.2 Mining Enterprise under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment Conservation is carrying out extraction of tin and tungsten join venture with companies through production sharing system.  During the 4 months from October 2021 to the end of January 2022, 9.144 metric tons of minerals were extracted in Kayah State, 152.112 metric-tons in Taninthayi Region, altogether 161.256 metric-tons.

Until 25th February 2022, there are 4 mining plots in Kachin state, 5 mining plots including a large scale mineral operation plot and four medium plots  in Kayah State, a medium-scale mining plot in Shan State and 9 large mining operation plots and 9 medium plots, altogether 18 in Taninthayi Region.

There are a total of 10 large mining operation plots and 18 medium plots across the nation. So far, Taninthayi Region is the largest number of plots and has the highest mining capacity. Moreover, the granite rock layers found in Taninthayi Region is the most deposit of tin and tungsten.
