

Cambodia began vaccinating children between three and four years old on Wednesday, to try to curb the rapid spread of the omicron variant of COVID-19.Parents with anxious toddlers turned up at clinics and medical facilities and waited to receive the Sinovac vaccination.
On Tuesday, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen said that five of his grandchildren had tested positive with omicron. He urged families to inoculate their children as soon as possible. About 90% of Cambodia's almost 17 million population have received at least one COVID-19 shot since vaccinations began in February last year. Cambodia reopened its border to fully vaccinated travelers last November as it emerged from a lengthy lockdown bolstered by one of the world's highest rates of immunization. Cambodia's Health Ministry on Wednesday reported 558 new cases and one death, bringing the overall total to 128,133 cases and 3,023 deaths from COVID-19.
