Seed Fair 2022: SAC Chairman attended the Opening Ceremony of 5-Day Event

The Department of Agriculture under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation organized a Seed Fair 2022 at Pyinmana Agricultural Institute in Nay Pyi Taw.

The opening ceremony was held on Friday with the attendance of Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing. After formal opening of the ceremony, the Senior General said the SAC is prioritizing for prosperity of the country with the food sufficiency for the people. 70% of the country’s populations reside in rural areas and engage in agriculture and livestock breeding tasks.

It is important for agriculture sector to have quality seeds, and so that, farmers can enjoy increased income along with the boosting of production and export the surplus. He called for cooperation of departmental personnel, experts and private sector for development of seed production for the interest of farmers and the nation as well.

Union Minister U Tin Htut Oo later explained the objective of organizing of Seed Fair. The Prime Minister and party later viewed the displays of booths and plantations. The Prime Minister instructed to us water dropping system to the plantations in water scarcity areas, to carry out agriculture-cum-livestock breeding works, and to conduct research works for growing all-weather crops.

The Seed Fair will be held for five days and it will include round table discussion, farmers seminar and awareness program on technical based-agriculture works. The Prime Minister and party later viewed the historic building at the Agricultural Institute, ancient agriculture machinery, lab equipment, farmer’s appliances and other display items. The Prime Minister instructed to make systematic maintenance on the historic buildings in its original structure.
